The Chicago Bears selected a quarterback at the 2021 NFL Draft. Justin Fields will now have the keys to the team from the second he is named the starting quarterback and beyond. They have the chance to develop him into a superstar. It would also help if the rumors surrounding Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers come true. He apparently wants to leave that place because he isn’t happy for whatever reason.

They have dominated the division for the entire career of Aaron Rodgers (and Brett Favre before him). Seeing him leave that organization would be music to Bears fan’s ears. In fact, even just the rumor of turmoil there is music to our ears as well. Adam Schefter of ESPN had some tweets this morning that should excite fans in Chicago as their arch-rival might actually be on his way out. It was hard to see it actually happening at first but things are starting to get real.

The Chicago Bears would become a better team if Aaron Rodgers leaves Green Bay.

According to Schefter, the Packers are exploring other quarterback options in case Aaron doesn’t return. Jordan Love is the only other player on the roster at that position and nobody is certain about how good he is going to be. Schefter was also sure to include that some veterans are on the radar of Green Bay.

This is great news. For one, Rodgers leaving gives the Bears a better chance to be division champions. It also means that they are not (yet) confident in Jordan Love which is something we were all afraid of as Bears fans. They haven’t had a bad player at the position in a long time so them drafting Love in the first round of 2020 was a bit nerve-wracking. If he isn’t the guy, that would be good because they don’t have anyone else ready to take over. Chances are that a replacement would not work out well at all.

Is it sad that a player leaving a rival is the biggest hope for our team? Absolutely. That is the state of the Chicago Bears right now though. It doesn’t have to stay this way, however. Justin Fields is a very good player that looks like he can become elite. He has the tools to evolve into a long-term franchise quarterback.

Rodgers leaving would just accelerate the process for the Bears. It would also end an era in Green Bay that has tormented the blue and orange for years. This is Chicago’s chance to take a stranglehold on the division for many years. Hopefully, this miracle actually happens and Rodgers finds himself on another team.
