Chicago Bears: 3 positions that still need work after the draft
By Ryan Taylor
The Chicago Bears had an A+ caliber draft led by general manager Ryan Pace, but the roster could use some work.
Preferably, cornerback, linebacker, and safety are positions that still need help after the outstanding draft over the weekend.
Ryan Pace put together a fan-favorite NFL draft for the Bears over the weekend. His biggest moves were clearly snagging a potential franchise quarterback and improving the offensive line.
Some of the moves he made in the draft were questionable, mostly based on positional need.
Pace went out and drafted Khalil Herbert, a running back out of Virginia Tech. Even though, the Bears have a top-ten running back in David Montgomery, newly signed veteran Damien Williams (opted out of the 2020 season), and Tarik Cohen (who was extended before the start of last season).
In the final round of the draft, Pace and the team grabbed Khyiris Tonga, a defensive tackle out of BYU. Although, the Bears have solid depth at the defensive tackle position with Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Bilal Nichols, and Mario Edwards.

The most likely explanation for the Bears’ draft picks in the late rounds is the players’ values. Most, if not all the players the Bears drafted were supposed to be taken in earlier rounds, and Pace took advantage of the value.
As prefaced in the beginning, the Bears still have work to do on the roster. Luckily, this time around, Pace overemphasized compensating on the offensive side of the ball instead of the defensive.
