Chicago Bears: Grading six picks made at 2021 NFL Draft
Khyris Tonga
The Chicago Bears added to its strength on the team when they drafted Kyris Tonga out of BYU. They have a very nice defensive line and it is especially nice when you think about the interior. Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Bilal Nichols, Mario Edwards, and Angelo Blackson could look really nice with Khyris Tonga added to the mix.
A lot of people see Tongs as someone that is “hard to contain” which means that they drafted someone very good in the final round of the draft. This team needs as much depth as it can get and it certainly seems like Tonga can help provide that once he gets his feet wet in the NFL. We don’t know what his ceiling will be yet but it sure could be good if they draft him properly.
With guys like Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn ready to create pressure as well, they could really have a nice pass rush in 2021. It would make it even better if they are able to get the most out of their offense. Their defense is also starting to age so adding someone like Tonga could really help make it younger.
Final Grade: A
This was a very good draft for the Chicago Bears. They drafted positions of need and some of them compliment the pick made before it. The biggest thing is obviously taking Fields in the first round because this team needs a quarterback very badly. Hopefully, we look back at this draft as the start of something so great.
