The Chicago Bears saw the Detroit Lions make a very nice draft pick in the first round.

The Chicago Bears haven’t had to deal with the Detroit Lions being a threat to anything they do very often. They have mostly been a badly run organization. However, they made a very nice pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. They selected Penei Sewell who is an offensive lineman from the University of Oregon. He is one of the best in the class.

The thing about Sewell is that he opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns. That might have made him fall a little bit because nobody has seen him play in a while but the Lions were able to snag him at number seven. It is a great pick that they are going to be happy with for a long time.

They traded Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams and Jared Goff was a part of the return in the trade. Goff isn’t an elite quarterback but he certainly will be better off with a guy like Sewell protecting him. Even when Goff is no longer the guy, Sewell can be a Pro Bowl level guy for whoever comes next. It is tough that the Bears have to get through this guy to create pressure and the Lions deserve credit for making such a great pick.
