The Chicago Bears are in a tough spot. They decided not to fire Ryan Pace or Matt Nagy after the disaster that was the 2020 season. Things haven’t been good at all since they went 12-4 in 2018. It is clear that they have some big needs but one need is more glaring than anything else. Ryan Pace can do one thing in the 2021 NFL Draft that can save his job for at least the next few years.

The Chicago Bears need to see Ryan Pace have a good draft or he will be gone.

Fixing the quarterback should be Pace’s biggest priority. That is the one thing he can do to save his job. They currently pick at number 20 so they would have to move up to do it. He might not be here beyond 2021 so there is no reason for him to be wary of trading future picks. Going up to get his guy would also get fans more interested in what is happening.

We all know that Trevor Lawrence is going first and Zach Wilson is going second. If the San Francisco 49ers take Mac Jones with the third overall pick, you might start to see Tre Lance and Justin Fields start to slip. If that starts to happen, that is the Bears’ chance to shine.

That is especially true if the guy is Fields. For a while, he was second only to Lawrence. Now, it seems like the NFL world is playing games with itself and it just makes no sense. There is no reason that a talent like that should escape the top five but it never does make sense. The Bears would be wise to take full advantage. Normally, the Bears don’t do the wise thing but this is the time to change that narrative.

You win nothing without quarterbacks in the National Football League. The Bears have been bad there for a long time. Pace messed up royally at the position more than once and still has one more chance to make it right. If he doesn’t do it here, he is going to be gone in short order.
