Fixing the offensive line is a huge key to success for the 2021 Chicago Bears.

Going back to Northwestern University, the Chicago Bears might be smart to look at offensive lineman Rashawn Slater. He, unlike Greg Newsome II, is not a local kid but he did attend a local school. Northwestern is producing great NFL players and Slater could be the latest to make it big. He fits what the Chicago Bears as they need as much help on the offensive line as they can get.

When Northwestern announced their return to play in 2020 along with the rest of the Big Ten, he decided to opt-out due to concerns with COVID-19. That doesn’t seem like it is going to hurt his draft status too much as he is probably going to be drafted in the middle of the first round. The Bears might be willing to snag him if they stay at pick 20.

Everyone wants the Bears to draft a quarterback. That is fair as they aren’t going anywhere without one but they also need to protect whoever it is one day. If they don’t trade up, they might as well think towards the future and draft an offensive lineman. That is the betting odds favorite for the Bears to draft so we will see if that is where they go. Rashawn Slater is a good option if that position is the direction that they want to go.
