Chicago Bears NFL Draft 2021: 5 players to target in Round 4 trade

Chicago Bears 4th Round Targets: QB Jamie Newman, Wake Forest
Last but certainly not least, the Bears could move up for a quarterback. The easiest clue to figure out whether or not the Bears will move up and acquire a fourth-round pick is if they have not drafted a quarterback in the first three rounds.
On Day 2, you have the second and third rounds. Then, Ryan Pace has all night before Day 3 to plan out the rest of his draft. You better believe that, if he hasn’t yet drafted a quarterback, he’s spending the majority of his time that night on the phone with other teams to go up and get one.
Jamie Newman is a perfect fourth-round quarterback. He opted out of last season and his only recent tape was at the 2021 Senior Bowl. He has a lot to like, but is also a developmental guy who would benefit from sitting a year.
Had he not opted out this season, Newman would have taken the reins as the Georgia starting quarterback and may have ended up as a much higher tier prospect. Instead, he will go in the middle rounds and could become a steal.
Newman is a terrific runner who runs with purpose. He is very strong and isn’t brought down easily when he takes off. In his most recent season with Wake Forest, Newman ran for 574 yards and six scores. In the same season, he passed for nearly 2,900 yards and 26 touchdowns to only 11 interceptions.
If he sat a year and worked on the basics, Newman would benefit greatly. Decision-making and processing could be a bit better. The dual-threat aspect of his game is definitely the reason he will succeed in the NFL, so long as he gets a little better in reading the field.
