3. The Chicago Bears would be able to address multiple positions in a big way

Looking at how these quarterbacks stack up, there are five obvious first-round talents. The second round will likely see Kyle Trask and maybe even Davis Webb get selected. However, as it stands, Mond looks to be a third or fourth rounder — and that’s appearing to put the Bears in position to steal him.

Make no mistake, Mond is not a perfect prospect by any means. But, if the Bears end up with him in the third round, he could end up being the steal of the draft. Not to mention, the Bears will get two excellent players at other positions beforehand.

Many mocks have the Bears taking Teven Jenkins, the offensive tackle out of Oklahoma State, with their first-round pick. This is certainly a scenario where fans would be thrilled to get Jenkins, or another top-tier offensive tackle right out of the gate. Chicago could honestly go with one of a few here, whether it be Jenkins or, if he’s off the board, Michigan’s Jalen Mayfield or Notre Dame’s Liam Eichenberg.

Then, in Round 2, the Bears could be in for a plethora of options at no. 52. We could see some strong receivers at that pick, or even a cornerback as well. With getting Mond in the third round or so, the Bears have the luxury of focusing on other positions ahead of him.

The sexy thing to do would be to move up and get a first-round talent at the quarterback position. But, in the end, Mond could prove to be one of the best consolation prizes instead.
