The Chicago Bears need to solidify the run game during the 2021 season.

The Chicago Bears haven’t stayed committed to the run game the way that they should have over the Matt Nagy era. You would think that one of Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers was under center for them with the way that they pass the ball. When they did run, they used Corderrelle Patterson way too much.

Tarik Cohen had an injury that forced him to miss most of the season so David Montgomery was the primary back. He is a really good player that has the talent to be a top running back in the NFL. They need to start using them all the right way in order to get the most out of them. That is why drafting Najee Harris out of Alabama might be the right pick. That would give them three really good running backs to help them establish that part of their offense on a regular basis.

This might be a bit early to draft a running back in a lot of people’s opinions but they need to be better in that area. Harris had 1000+ yard seasons in both his junior and senior years at Alabama. In 2020, he played in 13 games where he had 251 attempts for 1466 yards. He can also catch passes which are really helpful skills. He made 43 receptions for 425 yards receiving. He is a really nice well-rounded running back.

If Montgomery and Harris were on the same team and Cohen was used as a gadget, it could be a really formidable group. Adding another back might also help when that a good quarterback won’t be walking through that door anytime soon.
