Chicago Bears: 3 wide receivers more deserving of HOF than Julian Edelman
By Ryan Heckman
Former Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall deserves the HOF over Julian Edelman
Some love him. Some hate him. Some love to hate him. But, the bottom line is, Brandon Marshall is far more deserving of a Hall of Fame nod than we give him credit for.

Recently, Marshall’s name was in headlines for a poor argument on Chad Johnson’s podcast regarding guaranteed contracts. It seems some things never change, as Marshall’s hothead personality really shone through in the video. But, regardless of that persona, Marshall was a phenomenal wide receiver in his prime.
Over his career, Marshall totaled a whopping eight 1,000-yard seasons, including a stretch of seven in a row. As a Bear, Marshall caught 279 passes for 3,524 yards and 31 touchdowns. But, looking at his career as a whole, it’s certainly worthy of the Hall of Fame conversation.
In 13 seasons, Marshall’s career line looks like this: 970 receptions for 12,351 yards and 83 touchdowns.
If you compare his regular season numbers to Edelman’s, it’s not even close. Marshall has over 300 more receptions, twice as many receiving yards, and over twice as many receiving touchdowns. The fact that he wasn’t on many competitive teams should be irrelevant. This is a 6-time Pro Bowler and a former All Pro we’re talking about.
Again, say what you want to about his character, but Marshall was one of the best receivers in football during his prime. If we’re comparing Edelman to other could-be or should-be Hall of Fame candidates, Marshall’s name better be a whole lot higher on the list than his.
