The Chicago Bears take a gamble on their franchise quarterback

When the Packers drafted Jordan Love last year, that move started a firestorm in Green Bay and around the football world. What were the Packers doing? Did this signal them wanting to move on from Aaron Rodgers? It was a bold, shocking move to make.

All it did, though, was help push Rodgers to have arguably the best season of his entire career and prove that he is far from done in Green Bay. He isn’t going anywhere, despite the folks who want to create that story line. This could be similar to the situation back in New England when the Patriots drafted Jimmy Garoppolo and ended up trading him once Tom Brady proved he was so very far from being done.

The Packers have already gotten more than they could ask for from the Love pick, just based on how Rodgers played last season. If the Bears wanted to take an unorthodox route, they could attempt to trade for the 2020 first-round pick.

Chicago would send Green Bay more than what another team would have to pay for Love, even though we’re not sure what he is going to be in the NFL. The Bears would send Green Bay their first-round pick this year, a second rounder next year and Nick Foles to help back up Rodgers.

Should Love work out, the Bears just got their franchise quarterback and now have a dual-threat gunslinger who can chuck it with ease.
