Calvin de Haan. 44. player. 94. . D. Chicago Blackhawks

Calvin de Haan is sticking with the Chicago Blackhawks for a little while longer.

The Chicago Blackhawks are going to keep Calvin de Haan around for a while. There was some speculation about him getting traded for a while based on the fact that he could really help a Stanley Cup contender with depth. He is also more than a rental because of the fact that he has all of next season on his contract as well. That might also make him more likely to return the Hawks some better assets as well.

It wasn’t meant to be, however, as he is going to stick around with the Hawks for at least the remainder of the season. It is good for their current playoff chase because they are a better team with Calvin de Haan on the squad. He is a good player that will continue to be a part of their defense core as long as he remains healthy.

The Hawks still may look to deal with him during the offseason so that whoever acquires him gets the full 2021-22 season. They could also use him as bait in the Seattle Kraken expansion draft as well. It would have been interesting to see what they can get for him but now they can look towards the future with him. Maybe they even extend him and allow him to be there as a veteran presence as they try to retool their roster. For now, it is good to have de Haan in Chicago.
