The Chicago Blackhawks made a very interesting trade with the Vancouver Canucks.

Nobody expected the Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks to be trade partners on the day of the 2021 NHL Trade Deadline. The Canucks are way out of it and the Hawks are in the middle of the playoff bubble so teams like that don’t usually make trade deadline deals but here we are! The Canucks sent the Chicago Blackhawks Adam Gaudette in exchange for Matthew Highmore.

Highmore is a fringe NHL player that can play on the fourth line but is probably best suited to be a 13th forward. He will probably play with Vancouver this season but his ceiling in the NHL isn’t as high as a guy like Adam Gaudette.

Gaudette is going to come straight to the Blackhawks and play on their fourth line. He also has a decent ceiling offensively which should really help round out the Chicago Blackhawks forward attack. In 2019-20, he had 12 goals, 21 assists, and 33 points last season in 59 games played. All of those are career highs for him. It was a really nice season that would make any team happy from one of their fourth-liners. This deal is a complete win for the Chicago Blackhawks all around. Gaudette is going to be so much more useful for them than Highmore.
