In an unorthodox deal, the Chicago Bears find a franchise quarterback

The Miami Dolphins have been the most active team in terms of pre-draft wheeling and dealing, moving out of their no. 3 overall pick originally via the San Francisco 49ers. But, then they moved back up to the no. 6 overall selection in a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Two things are clear. First, the Dolphins believe in Tua Tagovailoa — at least for this year. Second, the Dolphins want to surround Tagovailoa with talented players. In this deal, they add their most talented offensive piece yet to the fold.

In this last deal, the Bears send Allen Robinson to the Dolphins while leaving no more question marks or stress regarding his situation. Robinson has not been happy in Chicago, but he’ll have the chance to earn a long-term deal with Miami while being Tagovailoa’s top target.

On the Bears’ end, they get the no. 6 overall pick in exchange for not only Robinson, but their no. 20 pick this year, a fifth rounder this year and a first-round pick next year.

That sixth overall selection would, of course, become one of the top five quarterbacks — that’s assuming Kyle Pitts goes before the Bears pick at six and four other quarterbacks go as well.

Now, the Bears have either Justin Fields, Trey Lance or Mac Jones going into their future and must fill Robinson’s shoes. But, at least they’ll have the most important position in football locked down — we hope.
