If the Chicago Blackhawks can get anything for Carl Soderberg it would be a win.

The Chicago Blackhawks got some bad news right before the season began. They learned that Kirby Dach would miss significant time due to a wrist injury. He injured it playing with Team Canada at the World Junior Championships. Losing someone that important to your team is always tough but the Hawks knew they needed to act on it. They signed veteran Carl Soderberg to a one-year deal to take Dach’s place.

Well, Soderberg was actually much better than anyone would have thought. That might have made him someone that a contender would want for the playoff push. He may be a 13th forward for a contender but you never know how it plays out. A team like the Montreal Canadiens is always looking for center depth and Soderberg might be a good fit.

The Blackhawks don’t need to get much for him. Getting a 7th round pick out of the late offseason signing would be considered great asset management by them. 7th round picks don’t pan out often but it could if the scouting department does their job well. Getting a draft pick for someone they probably shouldn’t have signed in the first place would be great. Going to the Habs would guarantee him another chance at the playoffs.
