Chicago Bears: Three trade packages for Atlanta’s fourth overall pick
If the Chicago Bears have a guy, they might need to make a massive overpayment.
The Chicago Bears may or may not have a guy in mind that they want. Some people believe that Justin Fields is the best quarterback in the draft that is not named Trevor Lawrence. If the reports of Wilson going to the Jets and Jones going to the 49ers are true, that would leave Fields there for the team picking fourth. If Matt Nagy believes that is the guy, they almost have to do what it takes to try.
A trade of three first-round picks, Roquan Smith, and Jaylon Johnson is a lot. That would make the Bears a lot worse as a team but adding a significant quarterback could help them in the long term. A trade like this only should be made is if they believe that they have the guy who is going to transform their franchise. Right now they are going absolutely nowhere with things the way they currently are.
Roquan Smith, as already mentioned, is a stud. Jaylon Johnson is also someone who has really high potential in the NFL. Giving up on both of them would be tough but that might be what it takes. The first two deals might not be enough to move up but combining them and adding Jaylon Johnson should absolutely get it done. The question is whether or not it would be worth it for the Bears. The answer is probably no but it would certainly be something to consider.
It is really sad that the Bears are in this spot right now. They should have their quarterback from the 2017 Draft all good to go for the next 15 years but they don’t. Now, they are searching far and wide to find that guy. He isn’t going to fall on their lap as they need to do the work and potentially make the sacrifices. If they really want the pick, they are going to have to give up a lot to get it.
