An early second rounder could be well-worth the Chicago Bears’ spending

When you get past the first round, there are always players you thought might go in the opening round who slip. Last year, Jaylon Johnson was a great example of someone who fell further than he should have.

The Bears’ second rounder this year is at pick no. 52, but depending on who is available heading into Day 2, it could be worth jumping up to pick no. 40. Predicting the players to fall is incredibly difficult to do. But, chances are, there might be a first-round talent or two to fall into the second round. If they do, the Bears should move up and snag the eighth pick in the second.

These are a few of the players the Bears should target if they last past Day 2: Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney, Minnesota wide receiver Rashod Bateman, LSU wide receiver Terrace Marshall, Northwestern cornerback Greg Newsome, South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn or, by some miracle, Oklahoma State offensive tackle Teven Jenkins.

If any one of those guys are still on the board after the first round, the Bears should look at moving up a few spots in the second round. At that point, they are going to get a huge value no matter what, should they deal for the 40th overall pick.
