The Chicago Blackhawks getting anything for Carl Soderberg would be great.

Carl Soderberg has been a pleasant surprise for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2021. He has six goals and eight assists for 14 points in 33 games played which is really good for a player in that type of role. He is only averaging around 15 minutes of ice time per game so he has played his role to the best of his ability. At this point in his career, he is a really nice bottom-six forward to have for depth.

The Blackhawks signed Soderberg late in the offseason. It was someone to come in and play after they found out the bad news about Kirby Dach. Now that Dach is back there has still been a place in the lineup for him but trading him for an asset would be wise. He only has the rest of this season left on his deal. The fact that they probably didn’t need to sign him in the first place would make turning him into a draft pick look really nice.

Even if it is just a fifth-round pick, the Hawks would welcome it. At this point, it would be smart for the Blackhawks to get anything they can for him. He isn’t coming back after the year but you never know what a late-round draft pick turns into. For the Leafs, giving up a pick like that for some depth is also a no-brainer. They might find that they need center help down the stretch and into the playoffs.
