Chicago Blackhawks: Three insane trade packages with Toronto Maple Leafs

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Calvin de Haan would be perfect on the Toronto Maple Leafs blue line.

The Chicago Blackhawks have some young defensemen that need more ice time. Calvin de Haan has the rest of this season and all of next season on his current deal so he might net the Blackhawks some very good return in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs. This is a good defenseman that would really help them stabilize their blue line. If they acquired de Haan by only giving up draft picks, they would have a really solid foundation on the back end.

They would also be able to deal with an injury or two if they added one or two more guys on defense. We have seen players get hurt right before or during the playoffs and that becomes too much for a team to overcome. de Haan would really be perfect for them as they try to avoid any of that.

As for the Hawks, de Haan will probably get them the most in return for anyone that is likely to be traded. He is a good top-four guy that also has next year on his deal so he is more than just a one-year rental. The Leafs are a good team that believes they can win the Cup so trading a second and a fourth for a solid defenseman that can help them is worth it. de Haan isn’t a perfect defenseman but he can do what is needed in a specific role on a good team like the Leafs.
