The Chicago Blackhawks are exceeding all expectations this season so far. They went in with low standards and have risen above. Even if they barely miss the playoffs by a few points, in the end, it will be looked at as a season where the team competed hard every game. Although they have had a good year so far, they should be mostly thinking about the future and the direction that the team is going. They are not winning the Cup this year or next so they might as well trade some of their veterans while they can. These are the three players most likely to be dealt:

It would be smart for the Blackhawks to trade Mattias Janmark right now.

Mattias Janmark was an interesting signing for the Blackhawks over the offseason. He was a great depth piece on the Dallas Stars in the bubble when they went to the Stanley Cup Final. He has always been a good bottom-six forward that can help any good team win. The reason it was interesting for the Blackhawks was because they weren’t a championship contender who needed a depth piece like that.

Although it didn’t seem like a great fit at the time, he has fit in nicely. He has ten goals and eight assists for 18 points so far this season which is not bad at all for 36 games played averaging almost 17 minutes a night. A team that needs a cheap forward option at the trade deadline would be very smart to add a player like Janmark for their run.

If a team made a call on him, it would make the Blackhawks’ depth take a hit right now but they could add an asset for a player that probably won’t be there in the long haul. Any mid-round draft pick or prospect would be great in a deal for him.
