Chicago Bears Small School Draft Targets: CB Robert Rochell, Central Arkansas

Speaking of a position that has some question marks and will be interesting to continue watching, the cornerback room is far from finished in Chicago. The Bears made a controversial decision to part ways with Pro Bowl cornerback Kyle Fuller — a former All Pro, I might add.

The team signed Desmond Trufant to come in and start in his place, but the problem with their two starting corners now is pretty clear: health question marks abound. Both Trufant and Jaylon Johnson have a history of injuries and the Bears will need some backup plans.

Another mid-round prospect that can be found coming out of a smaller school is Robert Rochell out of Central Arkansas, and he may develop into one of those sneaky steals come draft weekend.

Standing six feet tall, Rochell has that ideal size of an outside corner. His best attribute, without a doubt, is his ball skills. He’s come up with a whopping 38 passes defensed in his collegiate career to go with 10 picks — that’s some serious production.

One of the things he can improve upon when he’s a pro is just how grabby he can be. Penalties are potentially a concern for Rochell, but if he can hone in on that area, he could end up being such a value in those middle rounds.
