Chicago Bears 7-Round Mock Draft: A swing for the fences
By Ryan Heckman
Somebody wake the Chicago Bears up, because the 2021 NFL Draft is getting more wild by the minute.
Friday, we saw some drama unfold inside the top three picks, and don’t fool yourself, that certainly affects the Bears all the way back at pick no. 20.
The San Francisco 49ers took over the no. 3 spot after dealing with the Miami Dolphins, and most national draft insiders are now projecting quarterback at that pick.
Trevor Lawrence is the sure fire number one pick. Right behind the Jacksonville Jaguars are the New York Jets, who saw Zach Wilson put on a clinic at his pro day on Friday. Don’t think for a second they’re not taking Wilson — they are.
With the 49ers likely taking a quarterback with the third overall pick, even though they’re reportedly hanging onto Jimmy Garoppolo, the Bears are going to be in trouble much sooner than they thought.
The Chicago Bears have to make their big move at quarterback in the upcoming draft.
Look, none of us believe that Andy Dalton is the true starting quarterback for the Bears in 2021. He may have been promised the gig, but the Bears cannot be done at the position. It’s not possible, unless Ryan Pace has been promised job security beyond this year — and let’s not even think about that.
We’re going to stay positive. Bears fans care about winning right now. Nobody wants to go into 2021 expecting and desiring to end the year with a losing season.
This is where Pace has to make his biggest move yet in Chicago. It’s time to fix the quarterback position once and for all. In this latest mock draft, Pace does just that by seizing the moment and going big.
