Chicago Bears Draft: Three Alabama Crimson Tide stars to consider
Devonta Smith would look really nice lining up as a Chicago Bears wide receiver.
The Chicago Bears need help at the wide receiver position. Allen Robinson was handed a franchise tag over the offseason but we truly don’t know what is going to come out of that yet. They missed on Kenny Golladay so that pretty much leaves Anthony Miller and Darnell Mooney. The latter is really good but the former has been a disappointment for most of his career so far.
The Bears are going to need to get some weapons for Andy Dalton and the draft might be a place to get one if they don’t get a top quarterback. They could look to Alabama and Devonta Smith. Now, there is no guarantee he makes it down to the Bears pick but if he does, they should consider it.
He was one of the team’s best receivers throughout the season. He was also their top offensive weapon in the 2021 National Championship against Ohio State. Having a player like that on a really good team is very good in the college game and he can bring that to the NFL.
If the Bears lined up Smith on the opposite side of Robinson with Mooney as a third option, that would all of a sudden look like a top wide receiver core in the league. They still need a quarterback to come to throw to them (Andy Dalton isn’t the answer) and a room like this might make someone notable want to. If they somehow ever landed Russell Wilson or someone like that, a good group of weapons would make it easier on them.
