Chicago Bulls: There’s potential for splash trade deadline deals
By Ryan Heckman
Could Lamarcus Aldridge be bought out?
Aside from Drummond, another potential buyout candidate is veteran big man Lamarcus Aldridge. He’s given the Spurs six years of strong play, but at his age and with the way the Spurs are headed, he is better suited helping another team at this time.
At age 35, Aldridge is playing less minutes than he’s used to and thus his production has dropped. However, on a team like the Bulls, he could definitely provide a lift. Between Aldridge, Wendell Carter, Thaddeus Young and depending upon what happens with Markkanen, the Bulls would have one heck of a front court.
This year, Aldridge is averaging 13.7 points, 4.5 boards and is shooting a respectable 36 percent from three-point range.
Although a team like the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers or even the Philadelphia 76ers make sense for Aldridge, the Bulls should at least do their due diligence in terms of potentially adding him to the fold.
If anything, Aldridge would be a phenomenal leader for the young guys and would add another veteran voice to the locker room. Between he and Young, he’d add an edge of experience to this team and if the Bulls are truly wanting to make a playoff push, he’s a great guy to have while doing it.
