Chicago Blackhawks: Three wild trades to make with Anaheim Ducks
Adding a winger like Rickard Rakell would be great for the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Ducks are clearly trying to accumulate as many quality picks in the draft and prospects as possible. They have a lot of good young talent in the system like Trevor Zegras, Jamie Drysdale, Sam Steel, and Troy Terry amongst others. They also know that they are going to have some quality picks in the 2021 NHL Draft and they aren’t done adding them.
They are a few years away from being that Western Conference power that they used to be but if they stay on this path, they will get there. As a result, they might be willing to take a second and fourth for Rickard Rakell. He has been one of their best players for a few years now but he has the rest of this year and next year before his deal expires. He is 27 so he is the perfect age to trade to a team that needs some forward help.
If Rickard Rakell came to Chicago, he would fit right in. He can play both wings which would give Jeremy Colliton a lot of options. He would make a perfect winger for a big-time power center like Kirby Dach. He would also be great standing in front of the net on a power play that features Patrick Kane. Giving up this type of draft capital is tough but Rickard Rakell is very much worth it.
We don’t know if the Hawks are actually going to be buyers this year but it is possible. If the arena opens up for some fans, they might see making the playoffs as an opportunity to regenerate some revenue. Adding players like this is one of the ways they can try and do that. Not many teams are going to be full-blown sellers this year but Anaheim is one of them.
