Chicago Blackhawks: Three wild trades to make with Anaheim Ducks
The Chicago Blackhawks could really use an elite veteran goalie right now.
The Chicago White Sox has a long way to go with Kevin Lankinen. He has had some seriously awesome moments during this rookie season of his but he still needs to prove a lot more. He hasn’t been as consistent lately but there is plenty of reasons to believe that he will get back to form. He is right in the thick of the Calder Trophy race.
With that said, he needs help. Malcolm Subban has been okay this season and we have barely seen Collin Delia in the backup roles. Adding a star like John Gibson would really help this team in the present and future. He can help them win games and he could be a great mentor for Lankinen. Gibson has won the Jennings Trophy in the NHL and has played in the NHL All-Star game.
There is no doubt that he is an elite goalie playing on a bad team right now. His numbers are far below his career average but his team gives him little to no support in front of him. The Hawks aren’t a stout defensive team but they are better than Anaheim. They also score more than the Ducks do so the possession game will help out Gibson’s numbers as well because the Hawks have the puck more.
Giving up a first and second for Gibson would be a lot but for a goalie this good, it might be worth it. Some people might look at those numbers this year and think it is a crazy trade proposal but there is no doubt that Gibson is worth it. This is a goalie that at 27 years old, can be a Cup-winning goalie if he is in a good situation.
