Chicago Bears 2021 NFL Draft: Late round quarterback possibilities

Chicago Bears Late Round QB Options: Peyton Ramsey, Northwestern
For the past couple of seasons, we have wondered why the team has kept Tyler Bray on the practice squad. He doesn’t offer much in terms of prepping for athletic, dual-threat, opposing quarterbacks.
In the realm of developmental late-round prospects, the Bears could look at replacing Bray with Northwestern’s Peyton Ramsey.
After spending three seasons with the Indiana Hoosiers, Ramsey transferred to Northwestern and saw the Cats have a strong season, ultimately making it to the Big Ten Championship Game.
Ramsey’s skill set is that of a guy who can operate within a spread offense and run RPO type of plays with comfort. He handles the ball well and makes great decisions when it comes to running those style of plays.
His box scores won’t blow you away. Ramsey is more of a game manager, if anything. But his mobility allows offenses to be far more creative than with a guy like Bray. For this reason alone, Chicago should be looking at someone like Ramsey. Bray has wasted a practice squad spot for a while now, and I don’t believe any team is threatening to take him away.
At the very least, the Bears could grab a kid like Ramsey late in the draft and use him on the practice squad immediately.
