Chicago Bears Late Round QB Options: Brady White, Memphis

Brady White will end up being one of the oldest rookies out of this year’s class at 25 years old, but he is still worth a look in certain offenses as a developmental backup.

Over the last three years at Memphis (after transferring from Arizona State) we saw White lead the Tigers offense to some monstrous seasons. In three seasons with the Tigers, White threw for a total of 10,690 yards and 90 touchdowns with just 30 interceptions.

He has seen plenty of talent head on up to the NFL from this program over the last few years, in particular with his running backs and, yes, current Bear Anthony Miller.

White is best suited in an offense where players are schemed open, which is something Bears fans have come familiar with. Matt Nagy is actually very good at doing this, but has struggled when it comes to play-calling. This is where we’ve seen Trubisky struggle — hitting the guys who were schemed open.

This is something White is accustomed to. Memphis’ offense depends a lot upon their receivers and running backs getting the ball in space. White can deliver an accurate ball in these instances. But, it’s when he’s asked to make the more difficult, tight throws that he can have a hard time.

White is a guy who, like Costello, will probably end up being a seventh-round pick or even go undrafted. As a developmental quarterback, he’s worth the flier.
