8. Nico Hoerner hitting eight in a National League lineup makes perfect sense.

The Chicago Cubs have been high on Nico Hoerner ever since they made him the 24th overall pick of the first round in the 2018 MLB Draft. He is penciled in right now to be the second baseman of the future. He made his MLB debut in 2019 and played in 48 games out of 60 in 2020.

There is some conversation about David Bote being the starting second baseman to start the year but going with Hoerner would be better. You want to get the young guy that you believe in the most reps you can give him. Hoerner is also the best option the team has to be the last position player in the batting order. If he can have a good year in the eight-hole, this lineup is very formidable.

He had a pretty good year so they can only hope that things get better. They want him to develop his bat because he is a pretty good defensive second baseman. If he can be a guy who consistently gets on base for whoever is at the top of the order that day, they should be able to see him cross home plate a whole bunch. If they ever implemented the designated hitter to the NL or are playing in an AL park, you can expect Hoerner to be the nine-hitter.
