. RF. Chicago Cubs. Jason Heyward. 22. player. 9

7. It would be good for the Chicago Cubs if Jason Heyward was able to play well.

Jason Heyward is well known in Chicago for being on a bad contract. He gave a good speech during the 2016 World Series rain delay that took place during game seven. Since then, he hasn’t lived up to the contract that he signed with the Cubs. He was, however, very good in 2020. You can argue that he was the best player on the team last year. You can always expect Heyward to play Gold Glove level right field but the offense is hit or miss.

In 2020, he slashed .265/.392/.465 for an OPS of .848. He had six home runs, 22 RBIs, and 20 runs scored. All of that accumulated a 1.5 WAR over his 50 games played. It isn’t anything superstar-like but it was certainly a good year for him. If the guys hitting above him could get back to form in a year where Heyward hits like that, the lineup could be really dangerous.

Hitting from the seven-spot could be really good for him if all goes well for this lineup. He could really help them score a lot of runs over the span of a full 162 game season. Now, if he has a typical Cubs Heyward season, things could get worse for him. They need him to have another season as he did in 2020 otherwise things could get ugly.
