Chicago Cubs: This is the perfect 2021 starting lineup 2.0

1. Ian Happ will be the perfect leadoff man for the 2021 Chicago Cubs.

You can argue that Ian Happ was the Chicago Cubs’ best position player in 2020. Most of the star players that you associate with Chicago Cubs baseball were pretty bad in 2020. They had some really good pitching, especially at the top of the rotation, but they were in no way that good on offense. One player who didn’t really get the memo that hitting was not allowed was Ian Happ.

Going into 2021, he seems to be the perfect guy to lead off for them. He is the only player who should go into this season with the exact same mindset and routine that he had a year ago. Hitting for an OPS of .866 with 12 home runs and 28 RBIs isn’t superstar stuff but it is very good for a leadoff man with a good lineup behind him. We just have to hope that the lineup after him is in fact good this year.

If the players that do hit behind him have good years in 2021, he should cross the plate a whole bunch. We know that he is going to be on base a good amount of the time and he might even put the Cubs ahead 1-0 in the first inning every now and then so he is perfect in this role. Hopefully, Happ can be just as productive this year as he was last year.
