3. The potential for the Chicago Bears to trade for Russell Wilson is not completely dead, yet

Look, we are all Bears fans here, right? We do one thing well at times, and that is to hold onto hope. Most of the time, that hope ends in complete and utter disaster. But, it is kept alive until there is no chance it can survive.

When the Bears signed Dalton, reports surfaced that they made a serious run at Russell Wilson but were told that the Seattle Seahawks were not going to trade him “at this time.”

Those three little words are key, here, because if Seattle was dead set on keeping Wilson they would have used a phrase such as “will not be traded.” It’s pretty easy for Seattle to slam the door shut on trading Wilson. All they had to do was remove the words “at this time,” but instead they chose to add those three little words.

If the Seahawks are not open to trading Wilson right now, then so be it. The Bears can continue to go through their offseason process. However, as it gets closer to draft time, who is to say that Seattle is not willing to take a few more phone calls?

Until the Seahawks completely close the chapter that is this Russell Wilson trade saga, consider the fact that no offer may be too great to pass up. Pace cannot afford to give up at this point. Until Seattle gives a definitive answer on Wilson sticking around for the long haul, then there should be no quarterback-needy team out there who gives up hope.

It’s not just the Bears, it’s a few other teams who could use an upgrade. Don’t give up on the idea that Wilson may never be able to be truly happy in Seattle. Plenty of reports came out that stated their relationship was severely damaged. Let’s not forget that.
