Three NHL stars the Chicago Blackhawks can save via trade
John Gibson could form a great Chicago Blackhawks goalie tandem with Kevin Lankinen.
The Chicago Blackhawks have something great going with Kevin Lankinen. He has been on fire this season and is truly in the running for the rookie of the year. He is having as good of a season as you can expect from a first-year goalie one year after losing Corey Crawford to free agency/retirement. They believe he can be one of their guys for the next half-decade or more as of right now.
With that said, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get him more help. Malcolm Subban has been a serviceable backup so far this season but you can’t really rely on him or Collin Delia going forward. For that reason, trading for John Gibson would be a huge deal for them. He is a superstar goalie that is stuck on a rebuilding team in the Anaheim Ducks. His numbers, as a result, are far below his career averages so far this year.
The Ducks have a very bright future with some of the prospects they have but Gibson might be on the wrong side of the decline when they are ready to take the next step. The Hawks are clearly trying to salvage the Kane and Toews era by going for it one more time. A duo of John Gibson and Kevin Lankinen would be really good for them in the blue paint going forward.
