Chicago Bears: Ten missions to accomplish this offseason
9. The Chicago Bears need to create more turnovers in the 2021 season.
When we talk about Sean Desai getting this defense to be at their best in 2021, the biggest key is the turnovers. They were one of the best turnover teams of all time in 2018 but took major steps back in 2019 and 2020. Their defense was really good at keeping their opponents off the board during those years but it is much better when the turnover rate is up. It would be nice to see Desai figure out a way to help them in that area.
10. The Chicago Bears need a left tackle to help their offensive line.
The 2021 NFL Draft, as mentioned before, is very important to the Chicago Bears. It is important every year but it feels extra big this year. They finally have a first-round pick for the first time since 2018 as a result of trading their 2019 and 2020 picks for Mack. If they trade for a quarterback and it doesn’t include a first-rounder, they should draft a left tackle.
The offensive line got a little bit better at the end of the season but the left tackle is a big weakness. It is one of the most important positions on an NFL team and the Bears need to get it right. Whether it is with pick 20 in the draft, a trade, from within, or free agency, they need to get it done. It is very important to their 2021 success on offense.
These are all tasks that are a dream for the Bears this offseason. If they hit on them they will be a much better team. If they don’t, there are going to be some people looking for new jobs. Hopefully, for the sake of the Bears, they are able to make most of them (if not all of them) happen.
