Chicago Bears: Trey Lance pro day and possible draft day trades
By Ryan Taylor
The Bears could attempt to make their way up to the Philadelphia Eagles’ draft pick, which is the sixth selection in the draft. Getting closer to the top five guarantees the Bears could get Trey Lance, and maybe get surprised with someone that falls.
Like the Cowboys, the Eagles could use help defensively. They need more help on the offensive line, but the Bears can’t provide that type of help. The Eagles gave up the most amount of sacks to their quarterbacks last season with 65 total. They also gave up 26.1 points per game, which ranked 20th in the NFL.
This trade would make Bears’ fans a little more comfortable for them to walk away from this draft with a solid quarterback. The Bears should be able to get Lance at this position, and with the way, mock drafts look, a shot at Justin Fields if he falls. They have to give up a fair amount, but they should be able to work their way back with all the draft capital they have. With this trade, they would have four six-round picks in their arsenal.
The Eagles are certainly getting a steal with this one. The Eagles don’t need a quarterback in the draft. They will be missing their shot to get Penei Sewell, but they are getting a bonafide corner in Jaylon Johnson. Johnson partnered with Darius Slay is a nasty combination. Plus, getting another first-round pick with the rocky-looking Bears is too good to pass up on for the 2022 draft.
