The Chicago Bears deal picks and a defensive cornerstone in this 3-team trade

Lastly, the Bears could sweeten the deal for the Jets as well, simply to get their help. Let’s start with New York.

In this one, the Bears would send Foles, a second rounder in 2022, a second rounder in 2023 and starting cornerback Kyle Fuller to the Jets. Fuller is an upgrade over Johnson, who was mentioned in the first deal.

In this one, though, we’re back to having the Jets send Seattle their no. 23 overall pick.

The Bears give up their next two firsts and next two seconds, overall, in this deal, with defensive end Akiem Hicks also going to the Seahawks along with Darnold. To recap, Seattle gets three first-round picks, Darnold and Hicks for Wilson.

The Bears are out their next two firsts and two thirds, but the positive here is that Chicago doesn’t have to mortgage first-round picks beyond 2022. When the original thought was getting New York involved to get the Bears to maybe four or five firsts, giving up just two here is not all that bad.

Getting Wilson automatically means this team is going to compete. Giving up assets was going to happen one way or another, but gaining a future Hall of Fame quarterback in the process is well-worth just about any price at this stage.
