Chicago Bears: Is something big suddenly cooking at quarterback?
By Ryan Heckman
A second report on Wednesday ramped up quarterback hype for the Chicago Bears
ESPN insider Josina Anderson is well-connected throughout the NFL. She’s broken dozens upon dozens of stories, if not hundreds of them, over the years. Players trust her. She knows the ins and outs of the league.
That’s why it caught everyone’s attention on Wednesday when she tweeted this out in regards to the Bears’ quarterback situation.
It appears Anderson is thinking exactly what the majority of Bears fans have been thinking. There is no possible way that Pace settles for someone like Alex Smith, or Ryan Fitzpatrick, along with a rookie taken past the first round. They already have a veteran in Nick Foles, whom Anderson thinks could be packaged for a quarterback as well.
There is far too much pressure on Pace and his front office for them to settle for mediocrity once more. They have been down that road before, and if Pace is to stick around longer than 2021, they cannot go down that road again.
What made Anderson’s tweet even more intriguing is that, just hours later, she tweeted a single word which lit Bears Twitter up into flames:
"”Welp.”"
That was it — a single “welp,” and all of Bears Twitter was ablaze.
Just earlier, she had spoken about how the Bears have to do something big, and then, a single word had us all guessing.
