The Chicago Blackhawks would have to give up this much for an elite superstar like Jack Eichel.

If Jack Eichel came to Chicago, they might be able to take one more stab at the Stanley Cup before Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Duncan Keith are gone. It probably wouldn’t happen right away but it very well could within a few years. It is especially so if Eichel was allowed to play with some really good wingers. He would work magic on the power play with Patrick Kane. It could also help extend Kane’s elite production a little bit too.

Giving up two young defensemen in Nicolas Beaudin and Madison Bowey wouldn’t be easy but it would be worth it for every reason you just read. Eichel helps you win more than any of those players combined. They would really help the Sabres build a defense too so they might even consider something like that if they absolutely had to trade Eichel.

Pius Suter has been a really nice surprise so far this season. He can score goals and be a tremendous depth player. Some fans would be sad to see him go but to be honest, he isn’t anything even close to an elite player. You trade a middle-six winger (amongst other things) for a superstar center every day of the week. Just like every other mock trade before this, a first and second-round pick feels like a minimum as well.

You would think that the Sabres are going to do everything in their power to make Jack Eichel happy so he doesn’t want to leave. However, if they don’t he could very well be gone soon. It doesn’t feel like the Hawks are a team that would have a realistic chance but it is certainly fun to think about. It is also interesting to think about what they would need to give up, which is a lot.
