Trading away Alex DeBrincat would hurt for the Chicago Blackhawks but Eichel would be worth it.

As mentioned before, it would take a whole lot to get Eichel. The Sabres are going to get this type of return in a deal for Eichel and still probably lose the deal. DeBrincat is a very good player but his points are a little bit inflated from playing with Patrick Kane. It takes skill to play with a guy like Kane and DeBrincat deserves credit for that but getting Eichel for him would be so worth it.

Connor Murphy is a fine young defenseman but the Hawks have plenty of people who can step in his place if he was gone. In fact, he gets hurt a lot anyway so they are already used to playing with someone in his spot anyway. With some of the even younger defensemen there that the Hawks have, sending him on his way to improve the team would be worth it. He would fit right in on Buffalo too who has some good young defenseman themselves.

Trading away all of these picks might scare some people. The truth is though that Eichel would be worlds better (almost certainly) than anyone they selected with these picks. If the Sabres are going to trade Eichel they would want a haul of picks back but we all know they wouldn’t be replacing Jack Eichel with them. This isn’t a deep draft either like it was a year ago so the risk might not outweigh the reward here for the Hawks.
