Chicago Blackhawks: Three wild trade packages for Jack Eichel
The Chicago Blackhawks just announced the retirement of Brent Seabrook. That is going to free up a lot of cap space for Chicago as they look to retool their roster. We already went over how awesome it would be if the Hawks found a way to have Jack Eichel play for them. He would slot in perfectly on this team right now because he is a young superstar looking to win. The Buffalo Sabres haven’t done much of that over the years and he is tired of it.
The Chicago Blackhawks would love to have a player like Jack Eichel.
The core that won the three Stanley Cups in six seasons is dwindling. There are still some really good players left on this team but they are a shell of the glory days. However, injecting a player like Eichel into the mix could change everything for a long time. They have some stud young defensemen, decent wingers, and a good goaltender.
We don’t know the long-term status of Jonathan Toews but Kirby Dach will be back. When he is back, he would look awesome forming a center duo with Eichel. There are also plenty of good wingers that are there to match up with these good centers. One or two of them would probably have to go back to Buffalo in a trade but it would be worth it.
Adding a player like Eichel isn’t just adding any old player. He is an elite superstar. He isn’t Connor McDavid who was the first pick in the 2015 Draft that Eichel went second in but he is right below him. He has the same career points per game as someone as elite as Nathan MacKinnon. The only difference is Eichel is stuck in Buffalo who just refuses to win. Just so you know, it would cost a lot to acquire this type of player. If the Hawks wanted to pull off a massive trade, it might look something like this:
