Chicago Bulls: Three ways Andre Drummond would impact the Bulls
By Ryan Taylor
Bulls fans know all too well that the Bulls are seriously atrocious on defense. They have allowed 115.2 points per game to their opponents this season (25th) and have the 19th ranked defensive efficiency in the NBA.
More specifically, the Bulls need help in the paint. They allow 50.1 points in the paint per game to their opponents which ranks 27th in the NBA. That is not good. The Bulls have been exposed by big-name post players in the NBA this season too. Against the Denver Nuggets last Monday, star center Nikola Jokic put up 39 points, scoring all of them in the paint. Before then, against the Philadelphia 76ers, Joel Embiid scored 50 points against the Bulls as he took on Wendell Carter and Thaddeus Young any chance he got.
This is a large problem for the Bulls. They could use a center like Andre Drummond to challenge opposing big men. Drummond is an excellent defender, sporting a 0.5 defensive box plus/minus for his career, a career defensive rating of 100 (leading the NBA twice in that category). He also allows his opponents to shoot just 55.1 percent from inside six feet, which is an elite value to represent.
