Chicago Bears 2021 Free Agency: Recent cap casualties to avoid
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears should pass on the recently-cut Henry Anderson
When looking at the defensive line and the state of it entering free agency, one has to be a little worried that the Bears could do something drastic like cutting Akiem Hicks. The line immediately becomes worse in every sense if that were to happen.

Let’s assume they keep Hicks, though. The Bears still need a rotational guy, and should focus all their energy on bringing back Roy Robertson-Harris if they can. He’s been improving each year he’s been with Chicago and has proven to be a valuable lineman for them.
One option outside of the Bears could be former New York Jets lineman Henry Anderson.
In his final season at Stanford before being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2015, Anderson was the highest-graded defensive lineman by PFF. Back during the 2018 season, Anderson racked up 48 total quarterback pressures and 7.0 sacks — his best season as a pro.
However, since then, he’s come up with just 1.5 sacks in total. Now, one may attribute that to being part of a horrific Jets team, and that’s fair. However, Anderson still may get more money than the Bears should pay him, purely based on what he’s done in the past.
This is not a position high up on the list of needs, therefore Anderson should be a pass for now.
