The Chicago Cubs are a team loaded with talent. A lot of that talent struggled hard in 2020.

It was a weird year but they still managed to win the division. This year, they are hoping most of that talent that struggled bounces back. If they do, they very well could be a playoff team yet again. If they don’t they are in big trouble. Either way, it would be nice to see some of their depth players step up to the plate and help. These are the three most underrated Cubs to keep an eye on this year:

9. . 2B. Chicago Cubs. Nico Hoerner. 2. player

Nico Hoerner is the second baseman for the Chicago Cubs as we stand right now. Things didn’t work out with the last guy they had playing the position once Javier Baez became a full-time shortstop. Hoerner was drafted with the 24th pick in the 2018 MLB Draft and he is looking like a nice young player for them. He is certainly someone to keep an eye on as spring training rolls along.

If Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, and Javier Baez get back to the level we know they can, then Nico Hoerner’s emergence would become that much more important. If it all falls into place, the Cubs could have one of the better offensive infields in the National League.

Hoerner isn’t a guy who is going to become a league MVP or anything like that, but he can give you solid at-bats and help his team score some runs. He only has 68 games under his belt and there is clearly some growing that needs to be done. However, he still has been a positive WAR player despite some of the early offensive struggles. This could be a big year for number two.
