Chicago Bears: Alex Smith is not better than these free agent options
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears should look at Ryan Fitzpatrick before Alex Smith
Though he’s older by two years, Ryan Fitzpatrick would still be a better option than Smith. The grizzly veteran is known for some of the same things the aforementioned Winston does, too.

At the very least, Fitzpatrick in Chicago wouldn’t be boring. The guy loves to let the ball rip down field, and again, Chicago needs someone like that.
Fitzpatrick has played for eight teams over his decade and a half in the NFL, while throwing for just under 35,000 yards in the process. In his last two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Fitzpatrick threw for just over 3,600 yards, 33 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in 24 games.
He’s cool, calm and collected while being a risk taker at heart. Fitzpatrick won’t be afraid to unleash the ball down field, much to the pleasure of Darnell Mooney. If the Bears can hold on to Allen Robinson, he’d be a major beneficiary as well.
Will Fitzpatrick throw some interceptions here and there? Sure, but so will Winston. However, unlike Smith, he could still actually be a reason why the team wins at this stage in his career.
