Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Marcus Mariota in, Allen Robinson out
By Ryan Heckman
A few picks later, the Bears get another conditional selection. This time, they go back to the wide receiver position. This is what appears to be a total renovation at the wide receiver spot.
One of Zach Wilson’s favorite targets at BYU comes to the Bears in wide receiver Dax Milne. After not seeing the field much in his first two years, Milne broke out in 2020 alongside the surefire top-5 pick in Wilson.
In 2020, Milne caught 70 passes for 1,188 yards and eight touchdowns. He also saw some action on the ground, rushing 11 times for 67 yards.
This is a player who screams special teams value to begin with. Milne very well could end up being a fill-in kick or punt returner at the early stage of his career, with added special teams prowess in general.
He is a ridiculously competitive player who tries to win every single rep. His route running is crisp on shorter routes and Milne has what it takes to beat a cornerback deep as well. As a sixth-round find, Milne is as a good as it gets for the Bears.
Milne would compete with a guy like Javon Wims for a roster spot, or maybe even Riley Ridley, depending on how the Bears feel about him at this stage.
