Chicago Bears: Therapy for a Chicago sports fan, session 4
By Tim Olsen
“WHAT ELSE IS THERE?”
You are a sports franchise — your job is to WIN. Play games and win. Simple. They talk about great football “culture”; however, the only culture in football is a winning culture. That expired in 2018. The environment right now is comfortable.
Nowhere else in the NFL can a GM survive with a 42-54 record. He doesn’t just have a job — he’s still “learning on the job.” Even worse? Since the head guys aren’t “football people,” this GM is going completely unchecked by anyone above him.
Let’s not forget about the Head Coach; I like him but let’s ask this “guru” the hard question: Why did it take a season and a half for you and your staff to see what was wrong with your offense when fans and media saw it all along?
This product is what we, the fans get. The charter franchise of the NFL doesn’t care about us fans. Six playoff appearances in the last 22 seasons since they hired Ted Phillips.
(Sarcastically repeats) “But everything else is there.”
Gosh, I want to hit something.
Why don’t you try a classic technique?
