Chicago Bulls: 3 reasons why they’re competing this season
The Bulls have found their guy, and he hasn’t disappointed
Zach Lavine is an emerging superstar in the NBA and can be credited with a lot of the late-game success for the Bulls. Lavine is averaging 28.9 points with an eFG percentage of 60.7 percent. But the biggest need that the 25-year-old has met, is being able to be the guy at the end of the game.
The Bulls have found themselves in many close games this season and have been on the right side of some, and the wrong side of others. However, there is one thing that remains constant. The ball is in Lavine’s hands.
Lavine is currently ranked number two in the NBA clutch shot metric, only trailing Lebron James. He has had multiple go-ahead shots and clutch game-winning baskets in only 30 games so far.
Lavine has also improved his playmaking ability and his overall defense in his seventh year in the league. The combo guard is currently averaging 5.2 assists and has had numerous late-game stops and steals on the defensive end.
Not only has Lavine become a Chicago household name, but he is becoming a recognized star around the league. Lavine finished 4th in the Eastern Conference guard All-Star voting and is drawing a lot of buzz around the league.
Lavine having to worry less about younger teammates and being able to mold into the player he needs to be for the Bulls has been a huge part of the Bulls success. Another suspected idea for Zach’s success could be credited to a huge stressor off his back and a replacement that has put him in the right spots which is the third reason for the Bulls success.
