Chicago Bears acquire Teddy Bridgewater in one of these trades

The Chicago Bears steal Teddy Bridgewater in this last trade
Here’s the thing with the Panthers and Bridgewater. The league knows their intention to move on from him. This is not identical, but similar to, the situation with Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles wanted to move on from Wentz. It was going to happen. They may have desired one or two first rounders in return, but no team in their right mind was going to offer that.
For Bridgewater, the Panthers may not end up getting more than a mid-round pick. He’s not an experienced, long-time starter. He has far less of a pedigree than even Wentz does, so any team trading for him will not want to give up a haul.
This is an example of a deal that the Panthers would have to end up taking when they realize options are drying up, and the Bears would be fortunate to not give up anything higher than a fifth-round pick.
The other aspect of a trade for Bridgewater is the fact that Chicago could still bring in a rookie this year or next year without feeling pressure to hang onto Teddy. In 2022, the Bears could cut ties with Bridgewater for only a dead cap hit of $5 million. That’s nothing for a starting quarterback.
If the Bears were to rent Bridgewater for one year, bring in a rookie and even end up turning to the rookie at some point, they can rest easy knowing that Bridgwater’s contract won’t hold them down in the future.
