Pick Analysis. Northern Iowa. Spencer Brown. 5. player. 57. Scouting Report. OT

Ryan Pace is looked at as a small school risk taker. After all, he found Tarik Cohen in the middle rounds coming out of North Carolina A&T. He also took Adam Shaheen out of Ashland in the second round. Here, he addresses the offensive tackle position yet again with an FCS prospect.

Like Radunz, Spencer Brown is one of the better offensive linemen coming out of the FCS this year. The Northern Iowa product could end up challenging one of Charles Leno or Bobby Massie for a starting spot, depending on which one is kept around.

Radunz will start, for sure. The Bears will not be keeping both Leno and Massie. They’ll opt to save some money by letting one of them go.

The Bears very well could have their tackles of the future now with Radunz and Brown on board.

Like Radunz, Brown plays with a physical demeanor that you love to see from offensive linemen. He’s mean on the football field; out for blood, really. He has great length, which makes it tough for opposing rushers to get around him. If Brown gets his hands locked on a defender, it’s over.

The biggest improvement for Brown can come in his overall agility. If he improved his lateral mobility, he’d be a third or fourth rounder. That will come, but for now, the Bears find themselves an absolute steal in the fifth.
