Chicago Bears Mock Draft: A whopping four trades shock the NFL
By Ryan Heckman
With Sean Desai taking over as the Bears’ defensive coordinator, the big focus is putting players in position for them to have the most success. At the safety position, Desai will be focused on getting Eddie Jackson to return to his 2018 form.

In order for that to happen, Jackson must be allowed to roam more free in the defensive back field. But, that also means finding another safety who can come in and play closer to the box. Since losing Adrian Amos, Chicago has yet to find a true replacement at the strong safety position.
This team can’t afford to continue on with these 1-year or 2-year rentals. Jackson needs a running mate for the future, and in the fourth round, he gets one. The Bears get a phenomenal value with USC’s Talanoa Hufanga.
If you do some checking into Hufanga’s draft stock, you’ll continue to see one commonality, and it’s all about how physical he plays the game. Hufanga is violent. He is out to put ball carriers on the ground. He’s going after the football and he’s coming like a freight train.
There’s something about a guy who plays the game as though he’s out for vengeance that just fits in Chicago. The Bears need a safety like that.
Over his three seasons at USC, Hufanga was very active. He finished with 203 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, eight passes defensed, four interceptions (all in 2020) and four forced fumbles.
